 Ph.D. in Nursing Application Directions:

DEADLINES
Application materials are due by April 1, 2007 for the Fall 2007 semester.

MATERIALS TO BE SUBMITTED:

• Completed Application form
• Resume or Curriculum Vitae
• Statement of Career Goals
• 2 Letters of Recommendation
• Writing sample
• Official transcripts
• Graduate Record Exam (GRE)
• Documentation of nursing licensure as an R.N. within the United States
• TOEFL scores and WES reports for all nurses educated outside of the United States and/or educated in a language other than English
• Application fee of $75.00 payable by check, made out to Seton Hall University College of Nursing.

The applicant will submit all materials in one package, with the exception of official transcripts and graduate testing scores which must come from the original schools and testing company.

Applications will not be reviewed until they are complete. Upon receipt of all materials listed above, and after an initial review of these materials by the Doctoral Admission Committee, each selected candidate will be scheduled for a personal interview with the program director and/or faculty.

STATEMENT OF CAREER GOALS

Submit a 1-2 page typewritten, double-spaced statement regarding your career goals and the relationship of doctoral study to attaining these goals. Briefly discuss your career progress to date, and how you formulated your current goals. Include the focus of the research area which you wish to develop, at this time.

LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION

Using the forms supplied, submit 2 letters of recommendation. These should be from former faculty and/or doctorally-prepared nurses. These are to be submitted by the applicant in sealed envelopes supplied by Seton Hall, and signed across the seal by the recommender.

WRITING SAMPLE

Submit a sample of scientific or scholarly writing written within the past 5 years.

TRANSCRIPTS

Transcripts from all post-secondary colleges and schools attended, both undergraduate and graduate, must be submitted and sent directly from the school with an official seal.

GRADUATE RECORD EXAM (GRE)

Official scores from the most recent testing of the GRE, General Test, are required. Official scores must be sent from Educational Testing Service. However, the applicant may include a copy of unofficial scores with the application.
